First Fashion Post!

I find myself constantly answering questions about fashion. Some examples are:
  • Am I too old to wear this?
  • How do I wear _______?
  • What are the rules for wearing ________?
  • What should I wear to this event?
I enjoy helping people look their best and follow fashion rules, so I decided to start a blog that will answer fashion questions for not only my friends and family, but anyone needing a little advice. Please share my new address and submit your questions in the comments! Hopefully we can head off some fashion faux pas in the future!

For my first post, we will address leggings. The question I answered yesterday was "How the heck do you wear leggings?". The person's main concern was the panty lines and "lumps and bumps"  that sometimes come with leggings. My main answer: Cover up your bum! Leggings are not pants. I repeat, NOT PANTS! Think of them as thicker tights. If they were see through, would you wear them as pants? No. SO please, just don't. Yes, there are girls out there who wear them as pants, and in fact, some of them look fantastic. But unless you're a size 00 and a yoga instructor, it's best to shy away from exposing your derriere.

If you are just venturing into wearing leggings, I suggest starting with plain black ones. The ones linked are from Forever21 and come in a variety of colors. Once you are used to wearing them, branch out to brighter colors with basic plain shirts.

Pair leggings with a sweater or sweater dress that is at least covering your rear end, but no longer than above the knee (no one wants to look like the school marm!). I like the gray sweater pictured below from Kohls for $21.60. It's dressy for work, or to wear with jeggings.

DO wear boots. I personally like flat riding style boots with a little bit of buckle on them. The embellishment makes you look more chic and less "I'm going to ride a horse in a moment". Try these ones from Kohls for $37.97.

Lastly, I tend to shy away from printed leggings. Let's face it, in my head I am a rock star, but in reality it's a little different. If you do feel comfortable in them, pair them with a plain shirt. Too many prints can make you look bigger and mismatched. Once you've mastered the basic look, move on to long fitted tank tops and a trendy jean jacket or suede jacket for a different twist.

Stay classy and sassy ladies! Don't forget to submit those questions :)
